MHS grad Steenson grabs Jayhawk honor

EL DORADO — McPherson High graduate Travis Steenson was named the Jayhawk Juco Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday in a 63-7 Butler County rout of Fort Scott.

Steenson, who leads the nation in tackles, had 10 against the Greyhounds, including eight solos.

In four games, he has 57 tackles, including 15 solos and 42 assists. He has eight tackles for losses totaling 26 yards and has recovered a fumble.
