WICHITA — Since only the best of the best compete at the Wichita Collegiate Invitational Tennis Tournament, McPherson High must be among the best considering where it finished.

The Bullpups, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 4A, took a highly creditable fourth place Saturday with 111 points, trailing only Class 6A’s second-ranked Blue Valley North (144), Missouri power Lee’s Summit North (119) and Andover, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 5A (115).

MHS also finished just ahead of the No. 1 team in Class 3-2-1A, Wichita Collegiate, as well as Arkansas City, which is No. 2 in 5A.

There were 17 teams in all and the Bullpups also finished ahead of the No. 2 team in Class 4A, Independence.

Bullpup coach Tyler Brown was extremely pleased with his team as it was consistent throughout the day.

The top Bullpup finish came from the doubles team of Camry Holle and Emily Ediger, who were sixth with a 3-2 record. The other doubles team of Riley Burghart and Madison Hoffman went 2-3 for 16th.

Ellea Ediger was 11th in singles with a 3-2 record and Katlyn Reifschneider was 16th with a 1-4 mark.

MHS plays Tuesday at Goddard before hosting its second invitational on Saturday.
