Bulldog spikers down arch-rival Swedes

LINDSBORG — After playing the KCAC’s top three teams in their last three matches, McPherson College’s Bulldogs finally got to play somebody in the second division.

The Bulldogs shook off a 25-22 loss in the first set Saturday afternoon to Bethany to win the final three — 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.

Mac’s Taryn Lee and Cortlyne Huppe were dynamic with 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Taylor Johnson had an incredible 41 assists as she controlled the game, while Emily Warner and Johnson had 27 and 17 digs, respectively.

Mac improved to 2-5 in the KCAC and 7-9 overall, while the Swedes remain in last place at 0-6 and are 3-12 overall.

Bryanna Cool scored 13 kills for the Swedes. Eileen Vlamis was tops in assists with 21 and Ariel Buhr was credited with 26 digs.

The Bulldogs go to Bethel on Wednesday. Bethany plays Wednesday at KCAC power Kansas Wesleyan.
