McPherson High’s JV football team was on easy street for a half here Monday night.

The Bullpups dominated Rose Hill for a comfortable 16-0 lead and the second half figured to be only a formality.

But the Rockets scored 14 third-quarter points to capture MHS’ attention, but the Bullpups eventually earned their third win in four games with a 22-20 victory.

MHS played an overwhelming first half, as Noah Jirgens and Luke Koehn scored on shorts runs, with Jirgens adding a 2-pointer along with Jeff Reed, who caught a conversion pass from Drew Labertew.

MHS went up 22-14 on a 5-yard Koehn run, but Rose Hill scored with 3 minutes left, only to fail on the 2-point conversion.

The Bullpups will be on the road Monday at El Dorado.
