ROSE HILL — McPherson’s ninth-grade volleyball team won two of three matches during the Rose Hill quad on Thursday.
MHS needed three sets to turn away Mulvane (23-25, 25-17, 25-17) and just two to dispatch with Belle Plaine (25-12, 25-15).
Against host Rose Hill, MHS started fast with a 25-21 triumph, but then lost 22-25, 16-25.
“I'm very proud of my girls, we have had two new lineups this week and they have adjusted every time and played very well together as a team,” MHS coach Emile Blakesley said. “The one thing that hurts us the most is keeping the ball in play and getting our serves in at crucial times. We have to learn to move on from our mistakes and get the next ball and next point. Kenzie Goering did a nice job for us against Rose Hill. It was her first time playing middle and she was getting touches every time against their big-time middle hitter, which really helped us in the back row.”
The Bullpups play at home for the final time on Thursday as they host a quad.
