Southwestern Christian outlasted Central Christian College’s volleyball team in four sets here Thursday to sweep the closely contested season series.

The Eagles won the first set 25-19, but the Lady Tigers fought back to knot the match with a 27-25 nailbiter. It was all Southwestern Christian the rest of the way, 25-20, 25-18.

Winona Vili and Mayuko Shono threw down 12 kills apiece for CCC. Hannah Crandall was outstanding with all 33 of the Lady Tigers’ assists, while Ciara Costello and Kasi Kraus recorded 17 and 16 digs, respectively.

The loss sent the Lady Tigers to 4-13 on the season.

“Tonight was the first night both of our outsides really stepped up and played well offensively,” CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. “I am really proud of Nona (Vili). It was her first start of the season and she proved she belonged on the court. Mayu (Shono) stepped up as well and did a great job, too. We still make errors at crucial times, but we're moving in the right direction. I'm not good at being patient, but these things take time."

CCC will host College of the Bible at 2 p.m. Saturday and McPherson College at 6 p.m.
