WICHITA — There was a clear consensus that Tabor College’s men are the team to beat in the KCAC basketball race this year, while pollsters were split between Southwestern and Friends on the women’s side.

The Tabor men were picked No. 1 by both the media and coaches during voting at Tuesday’s annual Media Day.

McPherson College’s men were tabbed in a tie for sixth with Southwestern by the media, while the Bulldogs were picked seventh by the coaches.

Bethany College was picked eighth in both polls.

The Friends women were picked to win the title by the coaches, but the media went for Southwestern, which ran the KCAC table last year with 18 straight wins.

McPherson College’s women were eighth by the coaches and ninth by the media. Bethany College was seventh by the coaches and 10th by the media.
