OTTAWA — It was a goalfest Saturday between McPherson College’s men’s soccer team and Ottawa.
The Bulldogs came away with a 4-3 win, with Kevin Ndongo’s goal with 28 minutes left proving to be the winner off an assist by Alex Ronneburg.
The first half was wildly entertaining, as the Bulldogs scored three goals for a 3-2 lead. Ronneburg got the first off a Morgan Quintana assist, then Brayam De La Cruz made it 2-0 with a penalty kick.
Ottawa answered right away to slice the lead in half, but Mac’s Octavio Villa scored just 65 seconds later for a 3-1 lead.
Mac couldn’t stand its good fortune, giving up a goal 2 minutes later to Kyler Grimes, who then tied the game early in the second half before Mac finally took the lead for good. The game was highlighted by extremely physical play with yellow and red cards filling the air.
Mac is now 6-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the KCAC. It was another tough-luck loss for OU, now 1-2 in the KCAC but 1-11 overall.
The Bulldogs play a crucial game at home Wednesday against Friends.
