LAWRENCE — It was a sloppy race for McPherson College’s cross country team Saturday as it competed on one of the most famous courses in the Midwest at Rim Rock Farms. The NAIA held its annual preview meet as the course at Rim Rock is slated to be where nationals is held later this year.
The Mac men were led by Dixon Cooney, who finished at 27:48.9 and 92nd overall. Chris Newell was a close second at 27:54.8. Chris Le came in at 28:32.2, Michael Janzer finished at 28:48.1 and Kurt Katzdorn rounded out the scoring at 28:58.5. Jordan Bost crossed at 29:08.8, Jonathan Dominguez at 31:12.4, David Friesen at 33:02.0 and Karl Timmerman at 38:18.7. The men's top five averaged a time of 28:24.5 and tallied 587 points. They finished 22nd out of 31 schools and were third among KCAC schools.
Savana Cross was the first Bulldog woman to finish, coming in at 20:26.3. Laura Gibson ran a 21:02.1 to finish second on the squad. Heidi Lyne crossed the line at 22:25.8 and was followed by Miranda Clark Ulrich (22:33.3) and Lauren Wankum (23:39.1). Erika Doty came through at 26:28.3 and Sierra Ulrich rounded out the MC team at 33:50.2. The Bulldogs were 28th out of 32 teams, averaging a time of 22:01.32 for the top five runners. They were the third highest conference school.
