TOWANDA — Moundridge’s volleyball team stepped up in class Saturday and finished 2-4 in the Circle Invitational.

The wins were against Circle (26-24, 27-25) and Wichita Independent (25-10, 25-17). The losses were to Goddard Eisenhower (15-25, 20-25), Conway Springs (21-25, 16-25), Douglass (13-25, 15-25) and the Wichita Defenders (13-25, 22-25).

Moundridge is now 17-14.

“This was a very competitive tournament for us, but we did not play consistently throughout the day,” MHS coach Kelsi Chisholm said. “However, I thought Faith Barton hit consistent for us in the front row. Anna Stucky also picked her play in the back row as the day went. We seem to be more of an emotional team, meaning when we play teams we know we get more excited to play. The lesson learned here is that every win at this point in the season matters and I hope this team will refocus for this week.  At sub-state we will not know all the teams and it will be important to attack every point. I think this group has learned that and will bounce back.”

The Wildcats play Tuesday at Centre before hosting the HOA Tournament on Saturday.
