CANTON — Canton-Galva was one down away from winning its football game Saturday with Solomon.

The Gorillas converted on fourth down to outlast the Eagles 54-50 in a game that had been halted in the second quarter on Friday with C-G up 26-16 because of a blown transformer.

The Eagles had taken the lead with a score with 1:40 left in the game.

“They completed one screen pass Friday night, and Saturday with nice weather and a night to view our coverages, they completed 20 for 304 yards,” said C-G coach Jeff Savage, who on Friday said the game interruption certainly came as a detriment to his team.

Travis Unruh had a spectacular game for C-G as he rushed for 182 yards while passing for 143.

Austin Morgan ran for 73 yards, while Tanner Klingensmith was the top receiver with four catches for 79 yards and two scores.

C-G, now 3-3, plays Friday at Little River.
