Busy day for Bethany teams

LINDSBORG — It was a busy day Wednesday for Bethany College athletics as three sports teams were in action.

• WOMEN’S SOCCER  — The Swedes recorded their first KCAC victory and third overall with a 2-0 win over Southwestern.

Arianna Anaya scored the first goal, with Christina Noonan completing the scoring. 

Bethany is now 1-1-2 in the KCAC and 3-8-2 overall. It plays arch-rival Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday in Salina.

• MEN’S SOCCER — The Swedes are still perfect in the KCAC after a 4-1 rout of Southwestern.

Bethany is 4-0 in the KCAC, 6-7 overall.

Goals were scored by Lucas Procopio, Fernando Pinto, Chris Telemoque and Nijee Cooper. Procopio also had an assist.

A huge game is set for Saturday when the Swedes play at Kansas Wesleyan.

• VOLLEYBALL — The Swedes are still winless in the KCAC as they were swept at Ottawa.

The Braves won 25-13, 25-16, 25-9.

Natasha Allmer led the Swedes with six kills. Ariel Buhr was tops in digs with 16.

Bethany, 0-11 in the KCAC and 3-18 overall, goes to Saint Mary on Saturday.
