Senior golfers take advantage of great weather

Chamber of Commerce weather conditions Thursday morning drew a field of 36 for the weekly Turkey Creek Senior Scramble play.

First with a 56 was the team of Jerry Grant, Tom Billings, LeRoy Weddle and Sam Ulsaker. They won a scorecard playoff from Denis Everhart, Al Groke, Jerry Nelson and Roy Piemtka.

In the other flight, first with a 61 was the team of Marty Zink, Les Hargadine, Bill Goering and Paul Beckman. One shot back was the team of Dan Hervey, Ron Robben, George Hurlburt and Jim Griggs.

Alan Kulbeth won the hole prize.

Check-in next week is 8 a.m., with tee time 8:30 as good weather is in the forecast.

• Note — With the ongoing growth of the Turkey Creek Senior Golf Association, it’s been decided to start a winter session for the first time ever. This session will start Oct. 30, 2014, to April 1, 2015. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m., with tee time 9:00. 

It will be the same scramble tournament every Thursday as it been. Seniors 55 and over are welcome to play, carts will be available. Plans are to have occasional monthly meals.
