Jacob Lackey, who is expected to be McPherson High’s No. 1 golfer this upcoming spring, competed in a pair of end-of-the-season tournaments with considerable success.

At Lawrence’s famed Alvamar Country Club, Lackey charged back from 10 strokes behind to force a tie for first, then lost in a playoff to take second. He fired rounds of 82-78-160.

This past weekend at Spring Hill, he shot a first-round 78, including 1-over-par on his back nine, before finishing with another 78, which included an even-par score on his front nine before fading a bit. However, he birdied the 18th to tie for the lead, but again lost in a playoff to take second place.
