McPherson High’s JV football team struggled to convert 2-point conversions here Monday night against Abilene.
It wasn’t because of a lack of attempts.
The Bullpups scored six touchdowns in a 38-14 rout, so it was easy to overlook they were just 1 of 6 on 2-pointers.
The Bullpups sprinted to a 24-14 halftime lead and dominated the second half behind a crushing ground attack.
Noah Jirgens scored a pair of rushing TDs for MHS. Also getting into the act with TD runs were Taylor Kynaston and Luke Koehn. Mason Alexander threw touchdown strikes to Jeff Reed and Caleb Spaich.
The only 2-pointer was a pass from Alexander to Kaleb Jost.
MHS’ final JV game is Monday at Buhler.
