Turning; (STO #49 & KSA 8-1545 …find the exact wording here:

kansasstatutes.lesterama.org/Chapter_8/Article_15/8-1545.html)

Drivers making turns whether right or left must SIGNAL the intention to turn with either a turn indicator or the correct hand signal and then turn into the lane nearest them going in the appropriate direction. Avoid wide turns and cutting corners. (Tractor-trailers are exempt as they must make WIDE turns.) Drivers should check mirrors and the intersection to be sure it is clear before proceeding while yielding the right of way to others already in the lane. In McPherson, the fine for an improper turn is $60 fine, plus $75 Municipal Court Cost.

Each Tuesday, as activity permits, we address a topic dealing with traffic enforcement in the City of McPherson. This feature is organized by the Traffic Section of Patrol Bureau. If you have traffic enforcement questions unrelated to the addressed topic feel free to PRIVATE MESSAGE McPherson KS Police Department on Facebook.

We may address the question in a future “Traffic Stop”. Be aware, we have several topics already lined up. We appreciate your patience! And if any question requires an immediate answer please feel free to phone one of our Officers at our non-emergency number: 245-1200.
