McPherson High tennis coach Tyler Brown has been honored by the USTA Missouri Valley.

Brown, who works in the summer with the Mac Advantage, was awarded for the best Under-10 program. There were nominees from seven districts, which include Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Heart of American (Kansas City area), Missouri and St Louis.

Brown last week coached the McPherson High girls tennis team to a runner-up Class 4A state finish after the Bullpups won the championship under his guidance in 2013. He also coaches the boys’ team, which this past season produced the state championship doubles team of Ryan Horton and Peter Horton.

“He has done a great job for us in the Mac Advantage and we certainly enjoy working with him,” said Janie Bremyer of the Mac Advantage. “And of course the kids do as well,”
