LINDSBORG — A penalty kick in the second overtime by Luis Fernando Pinto lifted the Bethany College men’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over Tabor to keep the Swedes in the running for the KCAC championship
Bethany is now 5-1-1 in the KCAC and still has to play Bethel and KCAC co-leader McPherson College.
Charles Beckhauser scored the other BC goal, which came with 28 seconds left in the first half. Tabor’s goal by Philipp Wahl came in the game’s 72nd minute to tie it.
The Swedes, 7-8-1 overall, play host to Bethel on Saturday.
• Bethany women 2, Tabor 1 — The Swedes upset the Bluejays, who had entered the game 4-1-1 in the KCAC and 10-3-2 overall.
Sarah Henderson scored to give the Swedes a 1-0 lead, but Tabor tied the game on a goal by Jessica Renzelman.
Arianna Anaya scored 2 minutes into the second half and the Swedes made that stand up the rest of the way.
Bethany is now 3-2-2 in the conference and 5-9-2 overall. It will host Bethel on Saturday.
