PLEASANTON — Inman’s Caleb Renner easily qualified for the Class 2A State Cross Country Meet during Saturday’s regional event at Sugar Valley Golf Course.

Renner, a junior, placed seventh in 18:24.29. The winner, Kyler True of Olpe, ran away from the field in 16:49.02, a full minute ahead of runner-up Zachary Nuessen, also of Olpe.

“Even though the course wasn’t what we had run all season, Caleb once again showed consistency,” Inman coach Jay Parsons said.

Renner will compete Saturday in the state meet at Wamego.

Other places and times for the Teutons were Tobias Belknap (18th in 19:53.41), Keaton Case (35th in 21:22.6) and Max Harman (53rd in 26:28.01). Belknap’s time was his fastest of the season, Parsons said, while Case and Harman also ran among their best times.

Finshers for the IHS girls were Kaylee Baumann (35th in 20:37.34), Kirstan DeVore (43rd in 23:01.64) and  Megan Potter (51st in 28:19.0).  DeVore’s time was her best of the year.

This was the first year for cross country at Inman.
