United States Senator Jerry Moran was in McPherson on Monday to speak at The Cedars Conference Center. As part of an exclusive interview with the Senator prior to the public event, Mid Kansas Online asked him about a conference call that his office had late last week with CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden.
Moran said, "What I want to make certain is that our community hospitals, our ambulance drivers, our emergency preparedness folks in counties across Kansas, have access to information about what they should be doing. That was an opportunity that local officials had late last week."
Moran also supports stopping Ebola by restricting travel to West Africa, as well.
Moran said, "I continue to believe that the best way to deal with Ebola is to stop it in West Africa. I continue to be supportive of restrictions on travel for people coming from West Africa to the United States. I've been asking for the committee that I am on to have a hearing on this topic. We've been kind of stonewalled, I guess, until after the election. But, I'm very anxious for us to get front and center on this issue in Congress, to make certain that our Federal government is doing everything appropriate and reasonable to make certain that Americans health remains secure."
Senator Moran is the Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Health Subcommittee.
