LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s women’s basketball team started its season off Monday with a 92-51 loss to Haskell College at Hahn Gym.

Haskell came out blazing, sprinting to a 52-27 halftime lead by sinking 19 of 34 shots, 6 of 12 from beyond the arc.

“We are really disappointed in our effort tonight, especially on defense," Bethany coach Brett Morehouse said. "However, you have to give a ton of credit to Haskell, they just beat us in every facet of the game. Now we start a stretch of four tough road games and we will find out very quickly how we respond to adversity."

Adriane Davis was the bright spot for the Swedes with 19 points. Bethany was just 18 of 63 from the field, 5 of 18 from beyond the arc and struggled to 10 of 19 from the line. Haskell lit it up for 31 of 54 from the field, 11 of 21 outside the arc and 19 of 27 at the line. The Indians placed five players in double figures, led by Keli Warrior with 15 points. Twelve of the 13 team members scored.
