CRETE, Neb. — Bethany College’s women were doubled 46-23 in the first half by Doane College on Friday and the Tigers went on for a 104-55 basketball victory.

Royce Shields made 12 of 15 free throws on her way to 21 points to lead the Swedes. Adriane Davis added 13.

Hannah Dostal led the winners with 28, including 14 of 15 at the line.

“For 25 minutes, I thought we showed signs of improvement,” Bethany coach Brett Morehouse said. “But then the wheels came off completely and we were making inexcusable mental errors, not boxing out free throw shooters, giving up layups on made baskets because we were not hustling back. It was good to see Royce get to the rim and I can point to Cheyenne Cleveland, Cherokee Rohrbaugh and Kristi Ohschwager for being contributors on numerous hustle plays. The best part is that we get to go back out tomorrow and get better, and we will."

Bethany, now 0-2, is playing here this afternoon against Dakota Wesleyan. Tip time is 2:00.
