McPherson author Stephen Michael Farney has released his latest book, “STREAKIN,” which chronicles the longest consecutive game winning streaks in the history of both boys and girls high school basketball in Kansas.
Among the teams featured is McPherson High’s girls from 1998 to 2000 as the Bullpups compiled 56 straight victories, a streak that is still tied for the fifth-longest in the state's history. Team photos are also included in the book.
On Friday, Nov. 28, members of the team and coaches will gather at The Well from 2-5 p.m. to sign copies of the book. "STREAKIN" is hard cover (216 pages) and sells for $30 (tax included). For each book sold that day, the author will donate $2 back to McPherson High School.
Little River's girls, who hold the state record with 91 straight wins, are featured as well.
Another team in the book with local ties that had a long streak was the Moundridge boys, who ran off a then-record 59-game streak.
"STREAKIN" makes an excellent gift and keepsake of these great teams. On Nov. 28, stop by The Well, check out the book, visit with the team and coaches and relive these very special moments in the history of McPherson High School basketball.
