Twila Smedley’s good work last week did not go unnoticed.

Central Christian College’s junior goalkeeper from Manter, Kansas, was named today as the NCCAA Division 1 Defensive Player of the Week.

Smedley was instrumental in helping the Lady Tigers finish the season on a three-game winning streak, allowing only one goal during that time.

During the final week of the season, the Lady Tigers defeated York College 2-0 and Johnson & Wales University, 2-1. In the shutout win over York, Smedley had three saves. Against Johnson & Wales, she made seven saves including arguably her best save of the season to keep the score tied at 0-0. She would have earned her third straight shutout if not for a goal allowed as time expired. She finished with a 0.5 GAA the last week and a 0.33 GAA the last three games.
