OTTAWA — Former McPherson High baseball standout Aaron Marshall has been selected as an NAIA Preseason All-American, the national office announced on Thursday.
Only 17 players from around the country were picked to this elite team.
Marshall, who also starred with the McPherson American Legion program in the summers, appeared in 48 games last season for Ottawa University and easily earned first-team All-KCAC honors.
The sweet-swinging lefty finished with a .411 batting average and scored 43 runs, hit eight doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, had a slugging percentage of .715, 24 walks, was hit by pitch three times, finished with an on-base percentage of .500, and was 26 for 28 in stolen base attempts.
Marshall had 20 multi-hit games and a career-high 12-game hitting streak. He finished the season ranked 12th in the NAIA in slugging percentage (.715), 15th in homers (10), 20th in homers per game (.2), 28th in total bases per game (2.2), 29th in total bases (108), 29th in total stolen bases (26), 33rd in batting average (.411), 40th in triples (4), 41st in stolen bases per game (.542) and 47th in total steal attempts (28).
OU opens the spring season on Feb. 6 in a road doubleheader against Jarvis Christian College.
