LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s men’s soccer team has moved on to the KCAC Tournament semifinals.

The Swedes, who are the No. 3 seed, outlasted No. 6-seed Ottawa 3-2 on Saturday and will now travel to Topeka on Thursday to play KCAC co-champion Kansas Wesleyan.

That game has a 7:30 p.m. starting time at Hummer Complex.

The Swedes scored three first-half goals and then turned the game over to their defense.

Gerdson Lubins scored the first goal, assisted by Charles Beckhauser. Just 2 1/2 minutes later, Bethany took a 2-0 lead when Lucas Procopio scored, assisted by Luis Fernando Pinto.

Fernando Pinto nailed the third goal of the night for the Swedes.

"Our guys came out exactly the way we wanted to and battled hard the rest of the way to secure the win," Bethany coach Shane Taylor said. "It was a collected effort and well done all around. It was a big win for the program and now we prepare for Thursday."
