LAWRENCE — Central Christian College’s cross country teams both finished in sixth place Saturday in the MCAC Championships at the legendary Rim Rock Farms course.
Twila Smedley, who spent the season in goal for the Lady Tiger soccer team, showed her athleticism by taking 28th in 23:43.47.
Right behind her was Alyssia Johnson in 29th with a time of 23:54.61 Sammie Dahl, who competed this year for the volleyball team, was next for the Lady Tigers in 33rd with a time of 24:28.91. Cierra Hess came in next with a time of 25:42.33, placing her 36th. Amanda Curtis and Austyn Chynoweth, who were running in their first races of the season, finished in 44th and 49th, respectively, with times of 27:52.62 and 31:21.30.
In the men's 8K race, Josh Wardle had the best time of the six Tiger runners that raced as he was 29th in 32:50.48. Ray Anderson, Sebastian Diaz-Carbo and Byron Stinson all finished close to each other in 31st, 33rd and 35th place. Anderson ran 33:27.44, Diaz-Carbo 33:54.94, and Stinson 35:34.81. Ivan Salgado finished in 40th in 36:52.32 while Karlo Mandini wound up in 41st in 39:57.70
For most of the Tigers this was the final race of the season. Matthew Haynes, who did not compete Saturday, has qualified for the NCCAA National Meet being held at Houghton College Saturday.
