SALINA — For the third time this season, McPherson College’s volleyball team lost a 3-1 decision to KCAC champion Kansas Wesleyan.
This time it came in the opening round of the KCAC Tournament, contested Tuesday at Mabee Arena.
Mac was the only lower seed of the four to win a set in the tourney’s opening round.
The Bulldogs perhaps shook up the Coyotes by winning the first set in decisive fashion, 25-16.
KW, however, showed why its considered the team to beat in the tourney by rattling off three straight set victories, 25-16, 25-14, 25-16.
Cortlyne Huppe led Mac in kills with 13. Taylor Johnson led in assists with 22 and also came up with 13 digs, second to the 16 by Emily Warner.
Mac closed the year with an 11-19 record. Only two seniors will be graduating off this young team for coach Susan Barton, that being Maci Grimes and Phoebe Barton.
