TOPEKA — Here we go again, one more time.
McPherson College’s men’s soccer team and Kansas Wesleyan, which shared the KCAC regular-season championship with 8-0-1 records, will meet in the finals of the conference’s postseason tournament.
McPherson College advanced Thursday with a 2-0 win over Friends. The Coyotes were a 2-0 winner over Bethany.
The championship game is set for 5 p.m. Saturday at Hummer Park. In the regular-season meeting, the teams tied 1-1.
On the line is an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
The Bulldogs were put to the test by the Falcons. It was a 0-0 game for a half, even though Mac controlled the offensive flow.
All-KCAC pick Alex Ronneburg finally broke the ice in the game’s 53rd minute. For insurance, KCAC MVP Oscar Cortez scored off a pass from KCAC second-team pick Nick Torres.
Co-KCAC Freshman of the Year Tanner Horton recorded the shutout, as the Mac defense has been unscored on in the past five games.
