DES  MOINES, Iowa — McPherson College’s rugged pre-KCAC schedule, while making the Bulldogs better in the long run, doesn’t do much for its in-the-now non-conference record.

The Bulldogs dropped a 73-50 verdict Saturday afternoon to Dakota State as their record is now 1-6.

Bailey Brown and Sunny Smart, who have carried the offensive load all season, scored 13 points apiece. Callie Atkins made three 3-pointers to finish with nine.

Mac was down 30-21 at the half. The Bulldogs shot 18 of 54 for the game, more than half of those attempts from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs play an exhibition game Wednesday at Fort Hays State, which doesn’t count toward the regular-season record.

Mac (50) — Brown 13, S. Smart 13, Adkins 5, Demerat 4, Atkins 9, Castaneda 3, Abra 3.

Dakota State (73) — Olson 16, Galbraith 11, Swenson 9, Walford 6, Rabenberg 3, Hulstein 14, Weagner 5, Lindblad 4, Bailey 3, Hansen 2.
