PRATT — When it came to money time, Jace Kinnamon cashed in.
The Bullpup eighth-grader swished a basket in the closing seconds Monday, which proved to be the game-winner in a 37-35 road victory over Pratt Liberty.
The game was tied at 34-all and the Bullpups had the ball going for the last shot. The play broke down, but then Kyler Hoppes found a wide-open Kinnamon, who knocked down a trey. However, the Bullpups fouled on a 3-point attempt by Pratt in the final seconds, but the shooter made only 1 of 3.
“Extremely exciting game,” MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “We trailed most of the game by as many as eight or so. We finally started putting some stops together and made some adjustments to the zone they were playing and started to find some success.”
Elijah Muehler, who led MMS with 11 points, eventually tied the game at 34-all with a 3-pointer to set up the end-of-the-game heroics.
MMS is now 2-0 on the year.
The B-team evened its record at 1-1 with a 32-28 decision. Brandon Yowell’s nine points topped the chart.
The Bullpups have a long layoff as they do not play again until Dec. 4 when they host Salina South.
