LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s Mandy Shetlar has been named the KCAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for her performance last Friday.

Shetlar, a sophomore who prepped at Salina Central, is the first women's basketball player represented from Bethany in the 2014-2015 season. Her performance against Johnson and Wales played a key role in her receiving the award.

Shetlar, despite playing limited minutes, collected nine rebounds, one block and one steal against four Wildcats who were 6-2.

"Maddy stepped up for us on the boards versus Johnson and Wales and was superb in her man and zone defensive assignments against much bigger players in the post,” Bethany coach Brett Morehouse said. “If she can continue to play with energy and passion, she will really solidify our rotation at the 4-5 position.”
