HAYS — The good news for the Central Christian College men’s basketball team and the McPherson College women is that their exhibition games on Wednesday against Fort Hays State do not count toward the regular-season record.

The two colleges from McPherson were overwhelmed by the Tiger teams, the Central men 84-42 and the Mac College women, 120-39.

“It was a terribly slow start for us in both halves,” Central coach Tony Romero said.  "We just physically struggled on both ends of the floor tonight. They did a good job dictating our every move and we did not fight back much. Disappointing, but can learn a lot from this film."

Jerome Jackson came off the bench to lead the Tigers with 12 points.

Central, 5-1, is home Friday night to take on Manhattan Christian College.

CCC (42) — Jackson 12, Clayborn 7, Rojas 5, Quincy 5, LeBlanc 5, Burton, 4, Gholston 3, Robbins 1.

Fort Hays (84) — Stoppel 2, Samac 12, Williams 2, Nicholson 12, Gabric 6, Capiti 3, Fleming 7, Tadlock 8, Mokkobu 6, Wilson 16, Kite 10.

• Fort Hays women 120, Mac 39 — The Bulldogs were down 58-18 at halftime as Fort Hays simply overwhelmed them.

Sunny Smart’s 10 points led the Bulldogs.

Former Newton High star Kate Lehman, Fort Hays’ 6-4 center, poured in 30 points in just 17 minutes of play.

Mac is home on Friday to take on York College in the first round of the McPherson College Classic.
