The dedication for the latest house built by McPherson Area Habitat for Humanity was held Sunday afternoon in McPherson at the new home of Rebecca Lewis and her family at 319 South Oak in McPherson.
Lewis said, "I can tell you guys that, without this opportunity with Habitat for Humanity, I would not have been able to get a home any other way. I've been dreaming of a home for a really, really long time. I had done everything that I knew how to do to get my credit lined out and to get debt paid off. But, because my school loans were so high, I couldn't get an underwriter to look at me. I kept praying and praying, and finally it got to a point where I was praying so much about a house that I just stopped doing that and I just started turning it over to God. And, pretty much, that's when Habitat walked in and here we are today in this home. I want to let you guys know that there is absolutely no way for a family to pay this back, and so I don't think that's how it works. I've talked to a lot of people. What I will do is raise little boys who will know the importance of serving and giving and working hard and staying connected to a community. And, I will continue in my journey to do the very best that I can to keep reaching for those that are lost and dragging them in with us."
