McPherson College’s men’s basketball team makes its final tuneup before the start of KCAC play when it journeys to Hastings, Neb., for a pair of weekend games.
The 3-4 Bulldogs will be attempting to snap a three-game losing streak Friday when they play Hastings College at 7 p.m. They follow that up with a 2 p.m. game Saturday against Doane College.
After shooting the ball well during a 3-1 start, the Bulldogs have lost their shooting eye in losses to Central Christian College, Baker and Haskell. In the Central and Haskell games, the Bulldogs held solid leads, but faltered down the stretch.
Hastings is 4-5 on the year, but the Broncos own a 71-60 victory over expected KCAC contender Tabor. Doane, which is 4-6 with a one-point loss to Hastings, also has defeated Tabor, 87-80.
Tabor, ironically, is the fourth team in the field as it plays Doane on Friday and Hastings on Saturday. It will give Mac coach Tim Swartzendruber some scouting time as the Bluejays invade the Sport Center on Dec. 13 for the final game before Christmas.
Following this weekend, the Bulldogs open KCAC play next week with road games on Thursday and Saturday against Bethany and Bethel, respectively.
