LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Bethany College’s men had their five-game basketball winning streak snapped Friday by Dordt College 83-75 in opening night of the Colorado Christian Classic.

Dordt led 42-35 at halftime.

“We knew it was going to be a very physical game and we did not adapt well,” Bethany coach Clair Oleen said. "This resulted in us getting beat badly on the boards. Offensively we did not execute with aggressive patience. Dordt plays hard and aggressively."

The Swedes had nice balance with Cody Harris leading the way with 22 points. Jonathan Gidson followed with 14, while Chris Robinson and Nathan Coleman scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Dordt had six players in double figures, led by Leighton Sampson with 14 points.

The Swedes, now 5-2 overall, are playing Colorado Christian tonight at 6 p.m.

Bethany (75) — Jones 4, McLin 9, Harris 22, Coleman 11, Smith 3, Gidson 14, Robinson 12.

Dordt (83) — Sumner 10, Terpstra 11, Rindels 12, Walterstorff 4 Den Herder 12, O’Donnell 8, Sampson 14, Feenstra 12.
