LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The Bethany College men’s basketball team that took down nationally ranked St. Gregory’s last week never materialized on Saturday.

The Swedes suffered their second loss in less than 24 hours as they were lambasted 96-63 by Colorado Christian in what is termed an exhibition game as it doesn't count toward the Swedes' record.

Colorado Christian pulled away to a 45-31 halftime lead, then blew a hole in the game with a 52-point second-half salvo.

Gary Jones led Bethany with 19 points, but Chris Robinson was the only other Swede in double figures with 12.

The Swedes, 5-2 overall, open KCAC play Thursday hosting county rival McPherson College at 8 p.m.

Bethany (63) — Jones 19, Harris 8, McLin 4, Coleman 4, Smith 2, Robinson 12, Gidson 5, Peterson 3, Cooley 2, Huskey 2, Holand 2.

Colorado Christian (96) — Brown 23, McCullough 17, Shields 12, Squiers 5, Trinkle 2, Hanson 16, Whitmore 8, McLemore 6, McGee 5, Crist 2.
