TOPEKA — The Washburn University women’s basketball team is off to a flying 6-0 start, thanks in great part to the play of McPherson High graduate Casyn Buchman.
Buchman, a senior, has started all six games and is averaging 13.8 points. She is shooting 43 percent from the field, a highly respectable 39 percent from 3-point. In addition, she’s a blazing 22 of 24 from the foul line and has pulled down a surprising 6 rebounds a game from her guard spot. She also leads the team in assists with 17 and steals with 6. She’s only committed 8 turnovers despite playing 27.5 minutes a game, highest on the team.
Washburn plays at home Thursday against Southwest Baptist University.
