McPherson Middle School’s wrestling team ran its season-opening winning streak to five matches before finally losing for the first time.

MMS defeated Manhattan (48-39) and Salina Lakewood (59-40) here Tuesday before losing to Great Bend (53-45) to complete the quad.

Rhett Edmonson at 75 and Ben Hopkins at 120 were the Bullpup varsity performers to have a perfect 3-0 day. Both are now 6-0 on the year.

The 5-1 Bullpups compete Saturday at Salina Lakewood.
