SALINA — McPherson’s seventh-grade A-girls continued to steam along on Thursday, rolling past Salina South, 27-17.

Andrea Sweat paced the Bullpups with nine points and Lakyn Schieferecke supplied seven.

“I am proud of the way the girls fought throughout the entire game and left with a victory,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “Lakyn Schieferecke and Andrea Sweat did a good job of handling the ball against their pressure.”

The Bullpups are now 7-0 and play two games on Saturday in the Great Bend Tournament.

The B-team lost 21-12, getting outscored 8-0 in the final quarter. Josie Strathman’s six points were tops for MMS.

“It was a hard-fought game, but unfortunately South came away with the win,” MMS coach Jennifer Love said. “I was proud of the girls’ hard work and determination throughout the game.”
