GREAT BEND — Undefeated and basically unchallenged.

McPherson’s seventh-grade girls continued their unbeaten ways on Saturday by rolling to a pair of wins in the Great Bend Jamboree to move to 9-0 on the year.

The Bullpups were a 36-5 victor over Goodland, as they never gave up more than two points in a quarter and pitched a shutout in the fourth quarter.

Andrea Sweat’s 12 points topped the scoring chart.

Peyton Johnson’s 10 points, and nine apiece by Sweat and Lakyn Schieferecke, propelled MMS past Colby, 38-20. The Bullpups were stout on defense in the first half, giving up just four points.

“The girls passed the ball well today and made the extra pass to the open player,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We were aggressive on defense in both games and our height really bothered the other teams.”

The Bullpups play Monday at Emporia.

MMS (36) — Sweat 12, Schieferecke 7, Nason 6, Strathman 4, Johnson 3, Pham 2, Cooks 2.

MMS (38) — Johnson 10, Sweat 9, Schieferecke 9, Cooks 7, Pham 3.
