Christmas Dinner in McPherson needs volunteers

Volunteers are still needed for the 18th Annual Free Christmas Dinner.

The dinner will be held on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25th at the McPherson Community Building at 122 East Marlin. The dinner will be served at 11:30 a.m., with the doors opening at 11:15 a.m.

To make reservations to attend the dinner, call Merlin and Jody Miller at (620) 241-1292, on or before Tuesday, December 23rd. Reservations for carryout or delivered meals can be made by calling the same number, (620) 241-1292.

Approximately 250 volunteers are needed for setup in the Community Building and at the Senior Center for preparing the meal on Wednesday the 24th and Thursday the 25th.Volunteers are needed for table waiters and help on the food line.

Families with children are welcome to help, but please take the age of the children into consideration.

If you plan to volunteer, but also wish to eat, you need to call both the volunteer number and the meal reservations number so that both have an accurate count.

The entire McPherson community and surrounding area are invited to attend this free dinner.

If you know anyone in your neighborhood or family that is alone, please tell them about the dinner, or better yet, bring them to the Community Building.

Doors will open at 11:15 a.m. and the meal is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Food that is left over after all are served can be picked up, we ask that you bring your own containers for transport.

The dinner is paid for through the generosity of area businesses, grants and individuals and served by community volunteers.

No admission is charged at the door. If you would like to help financially with expenses, a donation can be mailed to Community Thanksgiving, Inc., PO Box 14, McPherson, KS 67460-0014.
