Current 35th District Senator Clark Shultz will be taking a job in the Insurance Commissioner's office, just not the top post.

According to an Associated Press article in Tuesday's Topeka Capital Journal, Shultz has been hired as incoming Kansas Insurance Commissioner Ken Selzer's legislative liaison. Shultz will assume his new position January 12, 2015.

Shultz was appointed this year to fill a vacancy in the Senate created by the appointment of long time McPherson County State Senator Jay Emler to the Kansas Corporation Commission after previously serving 17 years in the House, the last nine as Insurance Committee chairman. He is giving up his Senate seat.

Rick Wilborn of McPherson will be the new 35th District Senator beginning in January.
