SALINA — McPherson’s seventh-grade girls were pushed for one of the few times this season on Thursday.

The Bullpups outlasted Salina Lakewood 25-19 to improve to 11-0. Lakyn Schieferecke and Cassie Cooks led the Bullpups with seven points apiece.

“In our closest game so far, I was proud that the girls maintained composure and were able to hang on to get the win,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We were able to drive, dish and draw the foul, but struggled to finish. We ended up 4 of 26 from the line.”

The B-team suffered a 12-10 loss. Shianne Newboles and N’Dya Collins scored four points apiece. MMS is 6-3 on the year.

The Bullpups travel to Hays on Tuesday.

MMS A (25) — Cooks 7, Schieferecke 7, Johnson 5, Sweat 4, Strathman 2.

MMS B (10) — Newboles 4, Collins 4, Pham 2.
