It was “McPherson Appreciation Night” for Central Christian College’s men on Thursday and the Tigers gave the crowd something to appreciate.

CCC closed the pre-Christmas portion of the schedule with a 9-2 record after an 89-70 victory over Ozark Christian College.

“We played well offensively,” CCC coach Tony Romero said.  "I thought we shared the basketball and shot the ball good from the perimeter."

The Tigers were credited with 22 assists on 33 made baskets and made 48 percent of their 3-pointers.

"Again, our bench was a factor for us and our point guard play was probably the best it has been for us in a while,” Romero said. “I thought Daniel (Nwosuh) and Jerome (Jackson) did a good job controlling the offense. The downside is that defensively we still are not containing the ball as what we are capable of doing.”

Five Tigers scored in double figures — Dustin Rojas (15), Alonzo Stafford (14), Ernest Burton (13), Nwosuh (12) and Sam Clayborn (12).

The Tigers are off until New Year’s Eve when they play at Northeastern State of Oklahoma in an exhibition game. Northeastern is an NCAA Division II school.

CCC (89) — Stafford 14, Quincy 5, Nwosuh 12, Gholston 6, Rojas 15, Jackson 3, Burton 13, Clayborn 12, Adams 5, Robbins 4.

OCC (70) — Witt 11, Wingert 16, Allmoslecher 17, Bone 10, Hill 10, Williams 5, Hembree 1.
