McPherson’s seventh-grade A-boys pushed past the .500 mark for the season here Thursday with a 35-29 success against Salina Lakewood.
Kaleb Hoppes’ 15 points topped the Bullpups, now 3-2.
“As a team we are continuing to get better,” MMS coach Treg Fawl said. “We played at a very high level for the first three quarters of the game. The guards did a great job of sharing the ball on the offensive end. We were able to get a lot of high-quality shots. Hayes Schmid did a good job of controlling the tempo of the game for us on the offensive end.”
Fawl added that Cody Stufflebean dominated the boards, and Hoppes and Kvon Richardson were outstanding on the defensive end.
The B-team lost, 24-17. Drew Schrader was much of the offense with 11 points.
“Drew Schrader did an outstanding job,” Fawl said. “He was limited to three quarters of play because he also played some time in the A-game. I was proud of the way we came back in the third quarter.”
