HAYS — McPherson Middle School’s undefeated 75-pounder Rhett Edmonson was the lone Bullpup to take first place on Saturday in the Hays Invitational.

Edmonson, who takes a 16-0 record into today’s final match of the season at Great Bend, was 3-0 on the day, two of the wins by falls.

Other Bullpups who placed were Ben Hopkins, 2nd at 120; Alex Perkins, 3rd at 141; Tanner Pacey, 3rd at 180; Tyson Gottwald, 4th at 100; EJ Kretzer, 4th at 110; and Scott Radke, 4th at 127.

It was a mixed-bag day, according to MMS coach Scott Davis.

“Rhett and Ben had pretty good tournaments, but we underachieved in some other classes,” Davis said. “I thought we could have done a little better.”
