HAYS — Defense continues to be the name of the game for the McPherson eighth-grade girls.

The Bullpups again were in lockdown mode in a 35-17 strafing of Hays on Tuesday. Lauren Hein fired in 12 points to lead the Bullpups, now 11-1.

“This group has played really hard and competed at a high level,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “They continue to give great effort. They are looking forward to having a great second half to our season with some really tough games coming up.”

The B-team is now a sparkling 10-0 after a 39-8 rout. Jaycee Burghart was on fire with 16 points.

“We are so proud of how they have come together and playing in a good way,” Crawford said. “They continue to learn different things along the way.”

The Bullpups’ next action is Jan. 8 when they host Salina South.
