EMPORIA — McPherson College’s men put up a good second-half fight Tuesday night against NCAA Division II Emporia State in an 87-71 loss at White Auditorium.

The setback does not count toward Mac’s record since this is considered an exhibition game.

The Hornets were up 45-32 at the half, but only outscored the Bulldogs 42-39 in the second half.

Three Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Darius Hill with 19 and he just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

Chris Crook and DeAndre Henson scored 13 and 10 points, respectively. Mac shot it much better from the field than previous games, making 28 of 58, including 6 of 13 from 3-point.

Micah Swank and Jevon Taylor scored 17 apiece for the Hornets.

Mac, 4-9 on the year, is off until after Christmas when it heads to Iowa for a pair of games Dec. 29-30.
