Swedes' upset bid falls short

LAWRENCE — Bethany College’s women were halfway home to a huge basketball upset on Friday, leading Haskell 33-29.

  But Haskell regrouped and dominated the second half for a 69-54 victory.

Adriane Davis, who had missed the last two games because of traveling problems, came off the bench to score 20 points to lead the Swedes. Bethany shot only 26 percent in the game and missed 11 free throws, while committing 21 turnovers.

The loss dropped Bethany to 1-14 on the year. The Swedes are hosting Avila today, with game time set for 6 p.m.
